🧺 Ingredients

  • 150g cooked duck breast (skin removed, minced)
  • 40g cooked sweet potato (mashed)
  • 1 tsp salmon oil
  • 2 tbsp plain water or broth

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Cook duck breast thoroughly, remove all skin and visible fat, and mince finely.
  2. Steam or boil sweet potato until completely soft, then mash.
  3. Combine the minced duck and mashed sweet potato in a bowl.
  4. Loosen with water or plain broth and stir in the salmon oil.
  5. Serve a small portion at room temperature.
  6. Store the remainder in the fridge in an airtight container.
Nutrition: Duck is a flavourful novel protein useful for cats sensitive to chicken, while a small amount of cooked sweet potato adds gentle fibre and beta-carotene.

📝 Notes

Remove all duck skin and fat, which is too rich for cats. Sweet potato must be fully cooked and used sparingly as a minor ingredient. Store in the fridge up to 3 days or freeze up to 2 months.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
