- Time
- 25 min
- Makes
- About 4 small servings
🧺 Ingredients
- 80 g skinless, boneless turkey breast or thigh
- 2 tbsp cooked, mashed sweet potato (plain, no seasoning)
- 2–3 tbsp water or unsalted stock
👩🍳 Method
- Poach the turkey in plain water until fully cooked through, with no pink remaining.
- Steam or boil a little peeled sweet potato until soft, then mash 2 tablespoons of it plain.
- Finely chop or shred the cooked turkey and mix it with the mashed sweet potato.
- Stir in a little water or unsalted stock to reach a soft, spoonable consistency.
- Cool to room temperature and serve a small portion, refrigerating the rest for up to 2 days.
Nutrition: Lean turkey provides highly digestible protein while a small amount of sweet potato adds gentle fibre and beta-carotene, making this a soft, easy-to-eat option for cats that struggle with firmer food.
📝 Notes
Serve as an occasional treat or topper rather than a full diet, as it is not nutritionally complete. Use only plain sweet potato with no butter, salt or spices, and never add onion or garlic. Introduce new foods gradually to avoid upsetting the stomach.
⚕️ Before you cook for your cat
- Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
- Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
- Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
