- Makes
- About 6 small portions
🧺 Ingredients
- 100 g skinless, boneless cod fillet
- 1 egg white, cooked and finely chopped
- 1 tbsp plain water or cooking liquid
👩🍳 Method
- Poach the cod gently in plain water until it turns opaque and flakes easily.
- Check very carefully for any small bones, then flake the fish into soft pieces.
- Cook the egg white separately without oil until set, and chop it finely.
- Toss the flaked cod and egg white together, loosening with a little cooking liquid.
- Serve a small portion at room temperature and refrigerate any extra for up to two days.
Nutrition: Cod and cooked egg white are both very low in fat yet rich in easily digested, muscle-supporting protein, making these flakes a light, tempting option for fussy eaters or cats on a weight-management plan.
📝 Notes
Use plain cod with no salt or seasoning and remove every bone. Serve as an occasional lean treat rather than a complete meal. Egg must be fully cooked — never raw — before offering.
⚕️ Before you cook for your cat
- Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
- Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
- Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
