🧺 Ingredients

  • 100 g skinless, boneless cod fillet
  • 1 egg white, cooked and finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp plain water or cooking liquid

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Poach the cod gently in plain water until it turns opaque and flakes easily.
  2. Check very carefully for any small bones, then flake the fish into soft pieces.
  3. Cook the egg white separately without oil until set, and chop it finely.
  4. Toss the flaked cod and egg white together, loosening with a little cooking liquid.
  5. Serve a small portion at room temperature and refrigerate any extra for up to two days.
Nutrition: Cod and cooked egg white are both very low in fat yet rich in easily digested, muscle-supporting protein, making these flakes a light, tempting option for fussy eaters or cats on a weight-management plan.

📝 Notes

Use plain cod with no salt or seasoning and remove every bone. Serve as an occasional lean treat rather than a complete meal. Egg must be fully cooked — never raw — before offering.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
