No-Sew Fleece Window Hammock
A cosy sunbathing perch with zero stitching
A simple knotted fleece sling that hooks over a radiator or window ledge to give your cat a warm spot to watch the world.
- Difficulty
- Medium
- Time
- 35 min
- Cost
- Low
🧺 You will need
- 1 rectangle of sturdy fleece, about 50 x 70 cm
- 4 strong suction cups with hooks (rated for the weight)
- Scissors
- A ruler or tape measure
🔧 How to make it
- Cut the fleece into a neat rectangle and trim four short slits, one near each corner.
- Fold each corner over and cut two parallel slits so you can thread a loop of fleece through to form a strong knotted hanging tab.
- Knot each corner tab securely so it makes a loop that a suction hook can hold.
- Fix the four suction cups to a clean, dry window in a rectangle sized to hold the fleece taut but with a gentle dip in the middle.
- Hook the four fleece loops onto the suction cups and press each cup firmly to check it holds.
💡 Tips
- Clean the glass and the suction cups first — a smear of grease is the main reason they let go.
- Hang it low at first so a nervous cat can climb on and off easily.
- Choose a sunny, quiet window with an interesting view of birds or the garden.
Safety: Only use suction cups rated well above your cat's weight and test the hammock by pressing down hard before letting your cat use it. Mount it low over a soft surface so any slip is a short, safe drop, and check the cups regularly as suction weakens over time.
📝 Notes
A warm window perch gives indoor cats sunlight, a lookout and a sense of territory, all of which support their wellbeing. Because there is no sewing, you can wash the fleece often and simply re-knot it, and the suction cups move to a new window whenever you like.
