Fleece-Strip Teaser Wand

🧺 You will need
- A clean stick, dowel or sturdy cardboard tube
- Several long strips of soft fleece or old T-shirt fabric
- Strong string or a shoelace
- Scissors
🔧 How to make it
- Gather the fleece strips together at one end and tie them tightly with string.
- Lash the tied bundle firmly to one end of the stick so it cannot slip off.
- Trim the loose ends so they flutter but are not long enough to tangle around a leg.
- Twitch and drag the fleece along the floor like a fleeing mouse, letting your cat stalk and pounce.
- Store the wand out of reach between sessions so it stays a special, high-value toy.
💡 Tips
Move the lure away from your cat, not towards it, to trigger the natural chase-and-pounce sequence. Ending a session with a successful 'catch' and a small treat leaves your cat satisfied rather than wound up.
Safety: Wand toys are for supervised play only — put them away afterwards so the string cannot be chewed or swallowed. Check the fabric and knots regularly and repair any that loosen.
