🧺 Ingredients

  • 1 can salmon in water (drained) or 100g cooked fresh salmon
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp oat flour
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp rolled oats

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a tray with parchment.
  2. Flake the drained salmon finely, removing any bones.
  3. Mix salmon, egg, oat flour, oats and parsley into a firm dough.
  4. Pinch off pea-sized pieces and roll into small firm balls.
  5. Space them on the tray and flatten each slightly with a fork.
  6. Bake 15–18 minutes until firm and lightly golden.
  7. Cool completely before offering — the bites firm up further as they cool.
Nutrition: Salmon supplies protein and omega-3 fatty acids for skin, coat and joints. Parsley is a natural breath freshener, and the firm bake encourages chewing that helps reduce plaque.

📝 Notes

The firmer you bake them, the better they scrub teeth — but never so hard they risk a tooth. Store airtight in the fridge up to 5 days, or freeze up to 2 months. These are a treat, not a meal replacement; keep treats under 10% of daily calories.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
