🧺 Ingredients

  • 100 g cooked salmon, skin and bones removed
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 tbsp plain cooked pumpkin purée to bind

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F) and line a baking tray with baking paper.
  2. Flake the cooked salmon carefully, checking thoroughly for any small bones.
  3. Mash the salmon with the pumpkin purée, then fold in the egg whites to make a soft paste.
  4. Drop pea-sized dots of the mixture onto the tray, spacing them apart.
  5. Bake for about 12–15 minutes until set and lightly firm, then cool completely.
  6. Offer one or two as a treat and refrigerate the rest.
Nutrition: Salmon supplies omega-3 fatty acids for skin and coat while egg white adds pure, low-fat protein, making these a lean reward that is easy to portion for training without piling on calories.

📝 Notes

Always cook eggs and fish fully for cats — never raw — and check salmon meticulously for bones. These are treats, so keep them to under 10% of daily calories. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
