🧺 Ingredients

  • 150g cooked salmon (boneless, skinless)
  • 30g steamed broccoli florets (finely chopped — a small amount only)
  • 30g cooked white rice
  • 1 tsp salmon oil

👩‍🍳 Method

  1. Poach or steam the salmon until fully cooked, then flake it and check meticulously for bones.
  2. Steam the broccoli until very soft and chop it finely — use only a small amount.
  3. Cook the rice until soft, not al dente.
  4. Combine the flaked salmon, broccoli and rice in a bowl and mix gently.
  5. Drizzle the salmon oil over the top and stir through.
  6. Serve at room temperature and refrigerate any leftovers promptly.
Nutrition: Salmon is rich in EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids that support skin, coat and joint health, while a little broccoli adds vitamin C, vitamin K and fibre.

📝 Notes

Broccoli is safe for cats only in small amounts — treat it as a garnish, not a main ingredient, as too much causes gas and stomach upset. Always remove every bone from the salmon. Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. This is a topper or occasional meal, not a complete diet.

⚕️ Before you cook for your cat

  • Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
  • Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
  • Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
