🧺 Ingredients
- 150 g skinless, boneless cod fillet
- 2 tbsp plain cooked pumpkin purée (not pie filling)

👩🍳 Method
- Poach the cod gently in the unsalted water until it turns opaque and flakes easily.
- Lift the fish out, let it cool, and check meticulously for any small bones.
- Flake the cod into fine pieces with a fork.
- Mash in the pumpkin purée and enough cooking water to make a soft, spoonable mash.
- Serve at room temperature and refrigerate any leftovers.
Nutrition: Cod is a lean, low-fat source of highly digestible protein that tempts poor appetites, while pumpkin's soluble fibre supports steady digestion — a soothing combination for a delicate tummy.
📝 Notes
White fish like cod is very lean and easy to digest, which makes it a good occasional treat or topper, but it is low in some nutrients cats need, so it should never replace a complete diet. Always check thoroughly for bones and keep this under 10% of daily calories. Store in the fridge for up to 2 days.
⚕️ Before you cook for your cat
- Homemade food must be balanced. Cats need taurine, and deficiency causes heart and eye disease.
- Treat recipes are supplements to a complete diet, not a replacement for it.
- Check any new ingredient against the toxic-foods list, and ask your vet before switching diets.
